Respondent-driven sampling (RDS) is a network-based sampling method used to survey hidden or hard-to-reach populations. We consider the problem of Gender income inequality in Ecuador by estimating poverty measures in RDS. We propose estimators of the distribution function and in particular, estimators of the poverty measures.
We use a RDS survey conducted in Ecuador in 2019 (Mullo et al. 2020) for surveying a population of young Indigenous, Montubios and Afro-Ecuadorians and studying their living conditions. We show differences in income between men and women, with larger dispersion for women’s income than for men’s.
